Ladies, it is almost Valentines! Gone are the days of Feb 14 only being about romantic love, instead, we celebrate the love we share with our strong, brave, beautiful girlfriends.
If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate with your gfs, I’ve got you. Keep reading for 5 fun Gal Val themes. No time to waste, message the group chat now to let them know you’re hosting!
Games Night

Put your friendships to the test with the ultimate girly games night in. You’ll either be screaming across the table, in stitches or both once the night is through. Each guest brings a game to play. Cluedo, Taboo, Pictionary, Monopoly Deal, Charades, Chameleon, Werewolf and blind Karaoke are some of my favourites.
Dress Code: Comfort.
Eat: Share the load, have everybody bring a plate of food.
Drink: Rose and bubbles in the Summer, red in the Winter.
Mamma Mia Movie Night

Is it just me, or does anybody else acquire main character energy whilst indulging in the Mamma Mia films? It truly is the perfect mix of iconic music, stunning locations, and feel-good romance. Enjoy it with your bestie, or get the whole group chat around for a guaranteed night of fun whilst you sing along and embrace your inner Dancing Queens.
Dress Code: Pyjamas.
Eat: Plenty of olives, cheese, cured meats, fruit, dips and bread.
Drink: Something with Ouzo if you want to lean into the Greek theme. Try Ouzo Lemonade by pairing the liquor with lemon juice, fresh mint leaves and lemonade / soda water.
*Not into Mamma Mia? Swap it to a different musical, perhaps High School Musical or Grease, or an iconic rom-com, order in some pizza and voila, an equally as fun night in.
Viva las Chicas

There is no denying we all love tacos and a cowgirl theme, well mix the two and we have Viva las Chicas (translation: long live the girls). Get the girlys over for a fiesta and indulge in some of the most iconic Mexican delicacies. Throw on your finest bolo tie and dance to JB’s Despacito all night.
Dress Code: Mexican Western, think denim, long skirts, suede, buckle belts, bold colours and cowboy boots.
Eat: Plenty of tacos, tostadas and guacamole. Just prepare and lay out all the ingredients and have guests serve up themselves.
Drink: Margaritas – classic, tommy’s, spicy, frozen, watermelon or all of the above. Batch it or have everybody take turns in serving up different takes on the iconic cocktail.
Activity: One word: piñata.
Pizza Party

Yapping, sipping wine, eating pizza with the girls, how divine, that’s amore. It’s a Pizza Party, need I say more.
- Eat: Order in or make it an activity and prep ingredients for DIY pizzas.
- Drink: Wine & bubbles, maybe a cheeky bottle of Aperol.
- Activity: How about adding some arts and crafts to your evening. Perhaps painting each other’s portraits, beading bag charms or making fridge magnets.
Bake Off

Now this is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth, or send you into a sugar coma. Have everybody bake in advance a sweet treat. On the night each friend presents their baked goods, one at a time, whilst the others score the dessert out of 10 on looks, taste and texture. The winning chef takes home the glory (and maybe a prize).
Dress Code: Your cutest apron.
Eat: Perhaps a salad for the lady? I mean, it is totally up to you, but I think you’ll be eager to start the evening with a bowl of leafy greens before indulging in your sweet treats. This Healthy Caesar Salad recipe is one that is loved by many.
Idea: Have each friend bring recipe cards for their dessert for the other guests to take home.
Leave the lover at home and celebrate this Valentines with the girls who appreciate heart shaped things. Whether you decide to host one of the above themes or simply share a bottle of wine and a pizza with your girls, make sure to take a moment to appreciate how much you mean to each other.
Happy Valentine’s Day, ladies! ✦
